All proceeds from the sales of our "Cards For a Cause" line, are donated to The Sarcoma Foundation of America in honor of Dino Scoppettone.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer in adults (1% of all adult cancers), but rather prevalent in children (about 20% of all childhood cancers). It is made up of many "subtypes" because it can arise from a variety of tissue structures (nerves, muscles, joints, bone, blood vessels - these are collectively referred to as the body's "connective tissues"). Because these tissues are found everywhere on the body, sarcomas can arise anywhere. The Sarcoma Foundation of America, http://www.curesarcoma.org/aboutSarcoma.htm#What_is_Sarcoma_
The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) advocates for increased research to find new and better therapies for treating patients with sarcoma. The SFA raises its own funds to provide research grants to sarcoma researchers. The SFA also interacts with public, private for-profit, and private nonprofit organizations to raise awareness of the treatment needs of sarcoma patients.

On the back of each card, a fact about Sarcoma will be printed as well as the web address to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
My inspiration-
I was inspired to start this line of cards in honor of a friend of my husband and I, Dino Scoppettone. Dino was one of the most likable people you could ever meet. He was incredibly bright, had a sharp wit, was outgoing and had a personality as big as anyone you're likely to meet in life. An avid reader and sports fan, Dino could hold a conversation with just about anyone on any subject. He was also a talented writer and artist, as well as a musician. Dino was something of a renaissance man. More than that however, he was well liked and touched a lot of people. Unfortunately, he's gone too soon at the age of 38 after a brief battle with retroperitoneal myxoid liposarcoma, a very rare soft tissue cancer that he developed in his abdomen. He was diagnosed in May 2008, and passed away on August 18th 2008 after a valiant fight against an aggressive disease.
We'll miss his laugh, his over the top sense of humor, and his ability to lift people's spirits.
I was blessed that a very good friend and remarkable designer, Elaine Biss, of ElaineBiss.com agreed to contribute an exclusive piece to my line. While Elaine never met Dino, she was touched by his journey. I hope to add more exclusive works by other artists.
I hope you enjoy this special line of cards and will help raise awareness about Sarcoma.
Please be sure to join our mailing list. More designs will be added often.
